We had a great 4 night stay in Dunnock Lodge. Perfect lodge for those with mobility issues. The location is fantastic. It was lovely to walk round the Lough each morning as the sun was rising. The welcome packs for people and dogs was thoughtful and truly welcomed. I've told several friends about it and we will definitely be back.
We stayed at the tranquil otter in September 2025, we wanted a tranquil break from life as we own a bar /restaurant….. we got everything we wanted ! ….. we have tried many peaceful lodges / log cabins and nothing compares…… they all should have a weekend at tranquil otter and learn how to promote this …,, 5 star in every department ….. already planning the next break
We stayed in the Kingfisher Lodge and I have to say it is honestly breathtaking. From walking in we were wowed by the beautiful interior, all finished with no expense spared. The walls of the lodge are entirely made of logs, this is paired with muted paint tones, beautiful textiles, a log burner and stunning bathrooms. All of this made for a cosy yet luxurious feel. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and the touches such as the games kit, chocolates made us feel especially welcome. Outside the cabin which sits directly on the lakeside was a huge veranda with hot tub. The hot tub was well lit in the dark, maintained and very powerful. A stunning lakeside location with a very tranquil feel. Perfect for a few days of relaxation and calm with an added touch of luxury. Thank You Tranquil Otter
A log cabin like no other. We visited over Xmas. It was our first visit. Our log cabin was decorated with a beautiful real Xmas tree. The location was spectacular. Our cabin overlooked the lake with a hot tub on the decking. The place was magical. Would definitely visit again. The only negative is it’s in the middle of nowhere and not near any nice areas within the Lake District. Nearest place to visit is Carlisle which I thought was a bit of a dump.
Stayed in chiffchaff cabin and everything you need it has, including a tall 50/50 fridge freezer. The decking overlooks the Lough and chilling in hot tub again listening to the birds sing. Such a peaceful location. The pathway around the Lough is very well maintained. Bed very comfortable and decent sleep had. If you want a peaceful relaxing break this definately ticks all boxes.
Stayed for four nights in Egret lodge. It is a beautiful well furnished lodge and the hot tub & sauna were a lovely added treat. We had a totally relaxing 4 nights lots of lovely walks our dogs loved it too. Can’t wait to go back highly recommend.
Loved our stay at the Tranquil Otter! Such peaceful surroundings, nice nearby walks and local pubs, with Carlisle itself just a 15 minute drive. The lakes are also about an hour away by car. Hot tub, log burner, barbecue and even a boat allocated to each lodge if you fancy a gentle row on the lake. We also got the welcome basket which was great value and saved us having to make trips to the supermarket
What can I say. I love everything about the place. Threes times we have now been and the place is as it states - tranquil. The accommodation is amazing and the location is effectively a nature reserve. Amazing place.
